Borini out for three months

Liverpool FC have confirmed striker Fabio Borini will undergo surgery for fracturing a bone in his foot, leaving the Italian out for up to three months.

The news comes as a big blow for Brendan Rodgers as it leaves him with one senior striker in Luis Suarez after the failure to replace Andy Carroll, who was loaned out to West Ham in the summer.

18-year-old Samed Yesil, signed from Bayer Leverkusen in August, along with academy players Adam Morgan, Dani Pacheco and Michael Ngoo will be looking to capitalize on a chance in the first team if called upon by Rodgers.
