Liverpool drew against Manchester City 2-2 in the second leg of the Carling Cup semi-final at Anfield on Wednesday night, sending Kenny Dalglish's men through to the final 3-2 on aggregate.
A penalty from Steven Gerrard and a second half Craig Bellamy goal, rescued Liverpool from Manchester City, who took the lead on two occasions via goals from Nigel De Jong and Edin Dzeko.
The hosts went into the tie with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Eastlands, but prevailed to secure their first visit to Wembley for 16 years.
Liverpool will now meet Cardiff City to battle it out for the league cup in London on Sunday 26 February 2012. A tie, which sees Craig Bellamy, reunited with his boyhood and former club and also Steven Gerrard coming up against his cousin, Anthony Gerrard.
