Brendan Rodgers
has today revealed that Liverpool FC have enquired for Fulham striker Clint
Dempsey.
The confirmation
comes as NESN, a network owned by FSG, earlier revealed that Dempsey had signed
for the club, which was later refuted by Fulham, who claimed they had received
no bids for the United States international.
"Clint is a player we've enquired about, it is as simple as
that," said Rodgers.
"Ian
Ayre, our managing director, has spoken with the club to see what the position
is. That is where we're at,” he added.
However, Rodgers’ hand may have been forced into
revealing the enquiry to save the blushes of NESN.
Dempsey scored 23 goals in 46 appearances last year
and with only one-year left on his contract, Fulham will have to sell or risk
losing the forward for free.
