Fans of Uruguayan team Nacional displayed their support for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez in their Copa Libertadores tie against Libertad on Thursday. The number 7 has endured a tough week after refusing to shake Patrice Evra's hand at Old Trafford, forcing him to apologise for his actions. Though this did not deter supporters of his boy-hood club chant his name and hold up banners conveying various messages of support.

"Uruguay is with you Suarez" - Strong words from the home fans, further strengthening their support for the son of Uruguay.












If anyone doubted the backing of Luis Suarez, Nacional fans have proved that wrong.


Earlier in the day, Ajax fans during their 0-2 defeat against Manchester United in the Europa League, chanted their former striker's name.














Luis Suarez himself later that evening thanked Ajax, Nacional and Liverpool fans for their support by posting a picture with his wife with the following message:

"I want to say thanks for the great support that the Liverpool's fans have given me in these last days. I would like to say thanks again to fans of Ajax for what did today. As you know I am Uruguayan, and I defend the selection team, so I want to say thanks too the fans, players and managers of NACIONAL for their great support today! A million THANKS for everybody!"
